General Information
Tinsmiths’ Natural fabrics are predominantly made from 100% natural fibres, with no added resins or chemical treatments. This means that when cleaning they require a little more care than manmade fibres. These fabrics can be sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature, try to avoid these curtains/blinds getting damp; becoming damp & then dry can cause curtains & blinds to ‘rise’. Natural fabrics can shrink when washed. Curtains must be professionally dry cleaned by curtain specialists as dry cleaning can also cause shrinkage & curtain hems may require adjustment. Natural fabrics can have occasional ‘slubs’ in the weave and these are not faults but part of the charm of a natural product.
Curtains
All Curtain linings and interlinings are 100% cotton. These natural fabrics can be sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature. If the curtains were to become damp shrinkage might occur.
Due to the hand made nature of our curtains they must not be washed. However regular care will minimise the need for additional cleaning. Gently vacuum with appropriate soft, clean brush, particularly at the top and bottom. The top surfaces of window frames and picture rails can often become very dusty, if these are kept clean this will also benefit the curtains. Ensuring that curtain tracks & poles pull smoothly will lengthen the life of your curtains & save you much annoyance – silicone spray (or ‘Pledge’) sprayed on to a soft cloth & then run over the curtain pole or track does the trick!
Roman Blinds
Roman blinds must not be washed or dry cleaned. Regular care will minimise the need for additional cleaning. Gently vacuuming with appropriate soft, clean brush, particularly along the folds is important. The top surfaces of window frames and glazing bars can often become very dusty, if these are kept clean this will also benefit the blinds.
